Fitness day in New Brighton for everyone

- Vuyokazi Nkanjeni

IN an attempt to promote an active, healthy lifestyle among the township community, Kuboooo Active founder Luyolo Tandani will host a Fitness Circle event at Embizweni Square in New Brighton tomorrow.

The event is set to start at 8am and will see participants either take part in a workout session, do a 5km run or cycle through New Brighton.

The cycle and run will start at Embizweni Square.

Cyclists and runners will make their way through Ngesi, pass Ntshekisa Road, turn left into Mendi Road, pass the New Brighton Engen garage, go up Avenue A, turn left into Pendla, and enter Jolobe Street to make their way back to Embizweni Square. Adults will pay R30 and entry is free for children.

“The event is a motivation for the community to be involved in sport, any type of sport – it could be cycling or running, but the whole aim is to promote an active and healthy lifestyle,” Tandani said.

‘This is not the first event that we have done.

“We ran our first programme on April 1 last year, which was called Fill up Dan Qeqe.

“We decided to do this one early because we wanted to motivate people to start working on their summer bodies now and not only after winter,” he said.

“However, this whole thing is not only about working out for the summer body.

“We want people to have an active life and live that lifestyle.

“We are expecting about 1 000 people to come through because we have invited four schools around the area which will get free entry.

“There is no age limit and everyone is welcome to take part in the event.”
