Motherwell take double

MOTHERWELL Athletic Club completed the double in the Lake Farm Centre 10km race on Saturday.

Amos Nyongo was an easy winner in 31:07 in the men’s category, beating Adrian Gerwel (Ikhamva) by more than two minutes.

In the women’s category, Siphokazi Nojoko beat Theresa Buchner (Nedbank) by more than five minutes. Her time was 42:18.

With the leading EPA runners not in the lineup there were several new faces on the podium.

The leading results were: Senior men: Amos Nyongo (Motherwell) 31:07, Adrian Gerwel 33:19, Vuyolwethu Selana (SAPS EP) 33:43. Senior women: Siphokazi Nojoko (Motherwell) 42:18, Theresa Buchner (Nedbank) 47:32, Olwethu Bomvana (Motherwell) 48:16. Junior men: Dylan Miggels (Nedbank) 39:52, Ayabulela Sonjica (Temp) 44:43, Hlumelo Mpathi (Temp) 47:15. Junior women: Lauren Alcock (Madibaz BW) 52:11, Kyra Evans (Crusaders) 1:14:11.

THE leading parkrun finishers this weekend were: Hobie Beach: men – Damian Smith 18:34, women – Kerry Engelbrech­t 22:15. Lady Slipper: Men – Ronald Reeves 28:01, women – Henneli Smit 34:20. Sardinia Bay: Men – Lebohang Senti 20:45, women – Prince Dzau 24:12. Jeffreys Bay: Men – Wilson Bennett 19:36, women – Anne de Villiers 24:00.

LATE entries for the Hope for Kids 5km and 8km fun run on Wednesday will be accepted between 7pm and 8pm at the Londt Park Sports Club tomorrow evening and from 5.30am on Wednesday. The 8km race starts at 7am and the 5km at 7.10am.

The event, organised by the NG Kerk Sionsraad, will start and end at the Londt Park Sports Cub. Entry fee is R35.
