FRANCOPHON­IE WEEK

THE Alliance Française in Mackay Street is hosting its annual Francophon­ie Week to promote French culture and language. There is a lecture on Francophon­ie today at 4pm, a philosophy talk tomorrow at 4pm and, on Thursday at 12.15pm, a talk about Quebec. Entry to these events is free. On Thursday at 7pm, a movie will be screened, with entry free to Alliance members and R30 for non-members. On Friday March 23 there is a cooking contest at 5pm, with free entry to participan­ts, and R50 cost for others. Inquiries: (041) 585-7889.

CHOIR PERFORMANC­E

FAMILY TREE TALK

THE Genealogic­al Society is hosting a talk by Dr Rod Molteno on his great-great-grandfathe­r, first prime minister of the Cape, Sir John Charles Molteno, tonight at 6pm at the Lolly Shtein Hall at Laubscher Park West, Villiers Road. ITALIAN MUSICIANS

LIBRARY WEEK

THE Newton Park Library celebrates National Library Week at the library tomorrow at 10am.
