- Herald Reporter

HE has shared the stage with celebrated artists like US star John Legend and British pop ace Elton John, but Loyiso Bala will be returning to his Bay roots next weekend.

The award-winning Uitenhage-born artist is set to perform at the Word of Faith Christian Centre on March 30.

In a video promoting the performance on the church’s YouTube page, Bala promised “a wonderful night of praise and worship” with him and his band on Good Friday.

“I am so looking forward to coming back home this Easter,” he said.

Bala has performed for dignitaries including Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton and Richard Branson.

He has seven South African Music Awards under his belt. He is also one third of the Bala Brothers, a group consisting of him and his two brothers, Zwai and Phelo.

In addition to his musical career, Bala was appointed as the national goodwill ambassador for the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/Aids (Unaids), and raises awareness around HIV testing and the discrimination against people living with HIV.

Tickets for his live performance are for sale at R50 each, with children under 12 entering at no charge. The performance will start at 7pm.
