THE Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth will play host to the much-anticipated Nedbank Cup quarterfinal fixture between Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Baroka FC on Saturday (kickoff 8.15pm).

This comes after Chiefs revealed their home ground for the clash at the weekend.

The Glamour Boys will be counting on their Port Elizabeth fans to cheer them straight to the next round of the competition.

Kaizer Chiefs corporate communications manager Vina Maphosa said the team was anticipating a packed stadium.

“PE is one of our hunting grounds and it’s where we have lots of supporters,” Maphosa said.

“It’s a cup game and in cup games we try by all means to take them where we think supporters will come in numbers and they deserve to see their team in their own backyard.

“That is the reason why we are coming to PE – it never disappoints, and anytime we play there it is always packed. It’s always vibey and it brings excitement in the area as well as the surrounding areas.

“We are coming there to bring Kaizer Chiefs closer to their supporters,” he said.

It was at this stage that Chiefs were knocked out by SuperSport United last season.

Coach Steve Komphela has not won any silverware since being at the helm. With his stay at Naturena shortly coming to an end, he will be hoping for at least a cup in the bag.

The last time Amakhosi won the Nedbank Cup was in 2013 with Stuart Baxter.
