PA IN COALITION WITH DA

ONCE upon a time my gardener said to me, “When we call our councillor on a matter, he says: ‘What’s in it for me?’ ” The PA and the others who support Athol Trollip on conditions are doing exactly the same. Isn’t corruption starting there? So sad that Trollip has to bend his honesty to save the metro by staying at the helm.

B GUERRA

“HOW PA sealed late-night deal” (March 29): heaven help us now that DA is in bed with Gayton McKenzie. Who watched him on The Big Debate? Also not forgetting his jail record. Bye DA, forget about votes. ANGRY RESIDENT, PORT ELIZABETH

MARLON Daniels, Julius Malema is a real clown. He can’t even see what he’s planning to do. He is just holding everything back in the metro and our people will be the ones who will suffer.

MOTION OF NO CONFIDENCE

THE ANC is very, very clever. It is letting the EFF do its dirty work for it in NMB! JAX

ONLY when it suits the DA: when a no-confidence vote is against other parties, the DA is quick to support those motions. Now it’s Athol Trollip and his cronies’ turn, they totally refuse a vote. Maybe they are afraid that their own councillors are turning against his style of dictatorship.

SAMORA KIBI, ETINARA

HOW can these people do justice to NM Bay and its citizens? Disband and re-elect. CITIZEN ROSE

ATHOL Trollip, congrats on being able to carry on your good work, but really, don’t you own a tie?

EFF – Eh Funi Funi party. You got your comeuppance, nè. OBSERVER

HYPOCRITES and a bunch of ignorant a******* seeking power – that’s what the EFF, UDM and ANC are. We in PE do not need hooligans as leaders, but our Athol Trollip and company. RIP Julius Malema, Bantu Holomisa and Cyril Ramaphosa.

BRILLIANT ANALYSIS

BRILLIANT article by Nwabisa Makunga (“Council, who do you serve?”, March 28). Best article or letter I have read in ages. Well done. MIKE CALLAGHAN

MALEMA’S AMBITION THWARTED

WEE Julius Malema looked decidedly unhappy at the EFF bash last week. The realisation that he might not unseat the DA is obviously a major setback to his ambitious plans and the ANC is his obvious future.

DAVEY CAN The Herald investigate if the commander-in-chief had any “white partners” when he was applying for a tender in Limpopo? CURIOUS

LET THEM EAT CAKE

IT can only be the ANC that can spend R20-million on a farewell party for its secretary-general. So who cares? Let them eat cake and we know what happened!

WHO WILL WOMEN’S LEAGUE SUPPORT?

SO Safa is backing Danny Jordaan against Jennifer Ferguson. One waits with bated breath to see who the ANC Women’s League supports. MALCOLM DODDS

SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON FRONT PAGE

WITH reference to the article headed ”Treasury rewards Bay with R178m” printed in the Wednesday edition of The Herald, surely to goodness this should have been front-page news, instead of which it was placed almost at the bottom of page 4! The reason for this, Mr Editor? This article speaks for itself, and brings to attention and prominence the wonderful accomplishments of our municipality under the brilliant leadership of mayor Athol Trollip over the past year!

TALENT LOST TO SA

ON Sunday morning I put the TV on to watch the cricket test between England and New Zealand. Neil Wagner, Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool, was bowling to Dawid Malan, Paarl Boy’s High, who let the ball go through to wicketkeeper BJ Watling, born in SA and moved to New Zealand when he was 10. I wonder just how much talent SA has lost, both sporting and intellectual, due to the ANC’s policies?
