FRAMESBY enjoyed the best record of the Eastern Cape schools who attended various rugby festivals around the country over the Easter weekend.

The Port Elizabeth side competed in the highly rated Kearsney Festival in Durban and went through their three-match programme unbeaten.

They were, though, pushed all the way as there were close wins over Dale (15-5) and Pretoria Boys’ High (13-10) before they rounded off their programme with a solid 30-8 result against Noord Kaap.

They were joined at the festival by Border schools Dale, Selborne and Queen’s, who had some tough matches. In a collective nine games, the only victory came from Selborne when they defeated Middelburg Tech 33-19.

The East London side were competitive, suffering agonising three-point losses in their other games against DHS and Drostdy.

Four local teams took part in the St Stithians Festival in Johannesburg, with Graeme, St Andrew’s and Grey High all winning two matches.

Grey and Graeme lost their opening matches to Bishops and Clifton respectively, but then bounced back impressively to win their next two.

Grey had a notable 30-15 result against Maritzburg College and then trounced Parktown 61-0, while Graeme edged Parktown 16-15 and finished nicely with a 29-7 win over Northcliff. St Andrew’s defeated Michaelhouse and Clifton in the only two matches they played before leaving for an overseas tour.

Kingswood started with a 30-30 draw against the hosts, but then lost two hard-fought games against Rondebosch and SACS.
