Graeme clean up against Gill

-

GRAEME College were too strong for their opponents when they travelled to Somerset East for the annual derby with Gill.

The visitors won all but one of the rugby matches. This included a dominant 52-14 victory for the first team.

Graeme made a slow start, but they found their rhythm when Yanga Bangisa scored from deep in his own half after a fine offload from Liam Agnew.

This seemed to kick the team into gear as they continued to hold onto the ball for long periods and to play with great width.

They managed to score a further two tries in the first half to lead 19-0 at the break.

Gill struck first in the second half with an intercept try after Graeme had been on attack to make it 19-7.

Graeme then scored a further five tries as they varied their play. Gill scored in the final minutes of the game to make the final score 52-14.

HOCKEY

GRAEME put up three teams against Grey High on Friday.

In the first match, the schools fielded two young inexperienced teams. They were evenly matched as the game ended at 1-1.

The Graeme second team went down 9-0 against a more experienced outfit.

The Graeme firsts played against Grey seconds and competed well.

Graeme should have opened the scoring early in the first half. It was Grey, though, who scored midway in the first half after Graeme had soaked up a lot of pressure.

A Graeme penalty corner late in the game saw another great opportunity go begging and they had to settle for a 1-0 loss.
