Londt Park, NMU scrap for league honours

- Neale Emslie

LONDT Park A and NMU continued to set the pace in the Eastern Province women’s first squash league with solid victories this week.

Thanks to their 10-5 win over Profiles, Londt Park head the log with 31 points, followed by NMU on 30.

The students were too strong for Londt Park B in winning 9-3, but there was some redemption for Jacqui Ryder.

After losing twice to NMU No 1 Hayley Ward this season, Ryder secured a 3-0 victory, which should help her confidence.

The top two teams are still being pursued by champions Crusaders A, who emerged unscathed in a tight scrap with their C side.

Two of the matches went the full distance, both won by the A team players – Danell Douglas and Michelle Roos – to give them the major share of the points in a 10-7 result.

Former national star Greg La Mude made a rare appearance in the men’s first league and pulled off a notable 3-0 win over Jason le Roux of NMU. However, the students won the remaining games to defeat Londt Park B 9-4.
