Callies send Shamrocks crashing with 6-0 thrashing

- Mogan Segadavan

SHAMROCKS Priory’s fine start in the Pelfa Old Buck Gin soccer league came to an abrupt end at NMU on Wednesday when they were thrashed 6-0 by Callies.

After an even first half Callies led 1-0 with a goal by Karl Pereira.

After the break the log-leaders ran riot, with Nigel Bailey, David Brooks, Anton Bellairs, Dillon Germshuys and Pereira getting in on the act.

Mahle Old Grey remain level on points with Callies following their 2-1 win over NMB Municipality.

Scott Keevy and Andrew Beynon scored on either side of the break for Old Grey.

A penalty in the last minute of the match by Tabo Simane gave African Leopards a share of the points against Shamrocks in a 2-2 draw.

Central Acemates continued Fairview Rovers’ poor showing when they beat them 2-0 with goals from Thembani Ngqoko and Thanduxolo Mapapu.

Defending champions Kuyga Masters beat Westpark 3-0.

THERE should be a close tussle at the NMU south campus this evening when NMU Madibaz host Mahle Old Grey in a Pefa SCORE premier league fixture.

After beating Callies 3-0 the previous week the students surprisingly drew 4-4 with Central Acemates.

Defending champions Chippa United, who have not hit their straps this season, play Hearts at the Westbourne Oval.
