Go wide when going gets tough
A VERY difficult card today at Fairview in Port Elizabeth gets a great weekend of horse racing under way.
It is an exciting weekend of high quality racing and huge betting pools for racing fans.
Punters will probably find it easier to back winners later in the weekend because today’s meeting of nine races on the polytrack looks very competitive.
The Place Accumulator and Pick Six are set for big payouts and punters are advised to go as wide as possible in their bets.
The action at Fairview is followed by the Greyville meeting under lights in Durban.
Racing fans can look forward to the appearance of stars like Oh Susanna and Snowdance tonight.
Snowdance, the Paddock Stakes winner, is the favourite to win the Fillies Guineas.
Oh Susanna will run for the first time since winning the SunMet in January and will contest the Daisy Guineas.
The big one of the weekend sees nine feature races as part of the meeting of 12 races tomorrow at Turffontein in Johannesburg.
All eyes will be on the little filly TakingThePeace as she attempts to become only the third filly to win the Triple Tiara.
After two victories, she must win the SA Oaks to complete the Triple Tiara and the distance of 2 450m will be a huge test for her and her young jockey Callan Murray.
Legal Eagle takes on strong opposition in the Premier’s Champions Challenge and don’t forget the SA Derby and Computaform Sprint is also on the menu for punters. The weekend ends with the Kenilworth meeting in Cape Town on Sunday.
There is an interesting Jackpot Special for punters to attack which incorporates the two big races at Greyville with tomorrow’s Computaform Sprint and the Premier’s Challenge.
The Pick Six pool at Turffontein is expected to reach more that R5-million and the Place Accumulator R1.5-million.
Next weekend is a huge one for Port Elizabeth with racing on the Friday and Saturday.
Entry will be free but hospitality packages must be booked.
