Fairview, Chiefs in race for second

- Mogan Segadavan

WITH the Safa-NMB SAB League cup safely in the NMU Madibaz cabinet, the focus over the next two weekends will be on the battle for the runners-up berth and relegation.

With four matches in hand, including this weekend’s clash with Motherwell Academy, Fairview Rovers must be favourites to finish second.

Major Chiefs, who have a bye this weekend, are second and can end on 63 points if they win their final match. Rovers would be the only team who could overtake them.

Young Ideas are also in with a shout. If they win their remaining matches they will end on 62 points.

At the bottom, six teams are fighting to avoid relegation.

Golden Aces, who play Hearts, are last but have four matches left. Mabayibone Strikers are likely to finish last. Volcano, who trail Dower by two points, take on Kubs at the NU9 Stadium in Motherwell.
