NO RESPONSE FROM MAYOR

WRITING to mayor Athol Trollip is a waste of time! I have written to him on two occasions, once about the non-operational surveillance vehicle and then about safety issues on the cycle path from Bluewater Bay to town. No response from him or his departments, despite acknowledgement from his PA of receipt of my communication. Very sad! JOHN CABLE, AMSTERDAMHOEK, PORT ELIZABETH

CONDESCENDING ATTITUDE

THE deputy editor thinks those who do not agree with her are “intellectually challenged” (“Ashwin’s moment our story”, May 23). How condescending. PETER

NO WONDER SA IN SUCH A MESS

YESTERDAY’S The Herald carries a front page story regarding tender-rigging and fraud within our local municipality. The Sunday Times carried two stories also regarding fraud in which billions have been stolen. This time senior officials from SA Express are fingered.

It is small wonder this country is in such a financial mess. Ever since the ANC took over it is just a case of “everyone for himself”. Of course the blatant lack of controls is much to blame. Also the lack of ability to do the job. Talk about square pegs in round holes! RICHARD, CHARLO, PORT ELIZABETH

MUNICIPALITY THE BIGGEST WASTER

REGARDING David Raymer’s article (“Bay residents must use water supply more responsibly”, May 28), everybody is preaching about water, but the biggest waster is the municipality itself. We reported a leak a month ago with no joy. Maybe our mayor can phone his own call centre to find out if the plumbers maybe have the right tools to fix it now. FEDUP, PORT ELIZABETH
