Councillor suspended for remarks on Israel

JOHANNESBURG mayor Herman Mashaba has suspended health management committee member Dr Mpho Phalatse for her remarks on Israel.

In a video circulating on social media‚ Phalatse apparently declared during an event at the weekend that she and the City of Johannesburg were friends of Israel.

Although Mashaba said the video provided no clear context‚ he had taken a decision to suspend Phalatse, who is a member of the DA.

The EFF had called for Phalatse’s removal, while the ANC reiterated its support for a free Palestine. – TimesLIVE
