SOPHAKAMA face a tough fixture in the Sasol Women’s League when they play league contenders Thunderbirds at Walter Sisulu University’s Ibika Campus in Butterworth tomorrow.

The Zwide side, who have suffered from inconsistency this season, bagged their fourth win of their campaign last weekend when they beat Bashee Eagles 3-2.

The victory saw Sophakama bounce back from their 3-1 defeat to log-leaders City Lads.

Although the team will be looking to build on that, tomorrow’s match will not be an easy one against the Butterworth side, who are eyeing the top spot on the log.

League rookies Highbury have not had a good start to the season. From eight matches they have won only one and lost the rest.

Their recent defeat was a 3-1 loss to Eastern Rangers last weekend and they are languishing at the bottom of the log with only three points from eight matches.

Things will not get any easier for coach Mzwandile Faas as they are up against the unbeaten City Lads outfit.

Meanwhile, Golden Stars’ three-match unbeaten run was ended last weekend by Eluhewini (2-0). This weekend they play Cumakala and will be looking to bounce back from that setback.

The game between Birmingham City and Manchester Babes has been postponed.

The fixtures are: Tomorrow, 1pm: Thunderbirds v Sophakama (WSU, Ibika Campus, Butterworth) Eluhewini v Amanqilo Birds (Manzana Sports Field), Eastern Rangers v Executive (New Rest Stadium, Lusikisiki), Cumakala v Golden Stars ( Lady Frere); 3pm: City Lads v Highbury (Chevrolet Stadium, New Brighton), Bashee Eagles v Ayakha Stars (Dutywa Stadium, Dutywa) University of Fort Hare v Red Roses (University of Fort Hare Sports Ground)
