TO celebrate Youth Day, Hope4Kids will host its annual netball tournament at the Zwide Stadium tomorrow from 9am to 3pm.

This year’s event will have a new twist as there will be a march and drill event by the Charles Duna Primary School drum majorettes and a staged Sarafina dance before the start of the tournament.

Event organiser Linda Odolo is convinced the facelift will bring a larger audience.

“The march and drill will start from Njoli Road and the children will make their way to Zwide Stadium. This will bring more attention to the tournament,” Odolo said.

“We have also increased the number of school participation this year to six and we have invited netball clubs as usual.

“The players are excited about new additions and they can’t wait for the Sarafina dance.

“Trophies, medals and many other prizes will be won on the day.”

The tournament will cater for girls from 13 to 18.

ý Meanwhile, the Stand-up Youth Programme will host a fun run tomorrow starting at Funimfundo Primary in Soweto-on-Sea.

The 5km run, which gets under way at 8am, will also finish at Funimfundo Primary.

The race will be followed by soccer and netball matches played at the school.

Stand-up Youth Programme organiser and chairman Gcobani Stefaans said the idea behind the event was to keep children from abusing alcohol and drugs.

“We want the youth to be active and to participate in sport. By doing this, we are also trying to encourage a healthy living lifestyle which will stop children from doing all the bad staff,” Stafaans said.
