Gals’ flick, fashion show up my alley

Hello dolls, it is our favourite day of the week and, whether it’s partying, staying in bed all day or painting the town all shades and colours, we’re all ready to do what we love most when the week ends.

In my case, I’m here to dish it all out for you.

While there are countless things we’d like to swing our way to make being a woman in this world easier and safer, the Boardwalk last Thursday proved there are definitely ways to make it fun and special.

Your Skinners was one of the lucky girls spoiled by the Boardwalk with an exclusive girls’ only screening of the movie Ocean’s 8, which premieres today for the, uhm, public (yes, I’m grinning and sticking my tongue out).

Spotted there were the usual suspects such as seasoned MC Buli G and Bongie Siwisa along with her family.

I don’t know about the others but the movie was a bit of an ant-climax for me, if I may say so.

Yes, the idea of such a clean heist by a squad of women is complete bad-asserry but I was hoping to see more action and a couple of plot twists to keep me on my toes. But let me not say too much as you will want to watch for yourselves. I totally loved the perfume sample I found in my goodie-bag though.

Last Friday, I braved a rather chilly evening and headed to Bay Fashion Friday, which was held at the parking lot at the corner of Govan Mbeki and James Street (opposite TopKick car wash). I don’t know whether it’s my love for fashion or my joy over Port Elizabeth actually establishing its own industry that excites me.

Either way, it seems I am not the only one sharing this excitement because as always, people of the Bay came out in numbers and evidently had a ball, as cold as it was.

The fashion show was a conclusion of the NMB Kulture Kapital youth festival by the MBDA, Nelson Mandela Bay Fashion Week and other stakeholders. If you don’t know about this, you missed out on a week of entertainment tailored for the youth.

All I’m saying is, if that many people are willing to sit outdoors in winter to witness an event, then the organising team is definitely doing something right.
