Stars search for lost shine

AFTER two consecutive defeats, Golden Stars will be hoping to get their shine back when they play Birmingham City in a Sasol women’s league soccer fixture at Dower campus tomorrow (3pm).

Earlier, the Port Elizabeth side had a run of three unbeaten games but that came to a standstill after they lost 2-0 to Eluhwini. Things went downhill from there.

Stars suffered their sixth setback in the league last weekend when they lost to Cumakala.

They will be hoping to get back on the winning track against Birmingham.

However, getting three points against the East London side will not be an easy task.

Another Bay side who have been struggling to find the winning formula are league rookies Highbury.

They are bottom of the log and will be banking on a win against Eagles to lift themselves up.

Highbury have recorded one win and seven defeats in their eight matches.

Meanwhile, New Brighton side City Lads have dropped to second place on the log.

Thunderbirds took first place last weekend after beating Sophakama 2-0. The Mthatha team are level with Lads on points but have a better goal difference.

The battle between Lads and Thunderbirds will be interesting to watch as both sides have their sights set on winning the title.

Sophakama play Red Roses in Mount Frere tomorrow.
