THEATRE WORKSHOPS

The PE Gilbert and Sullivan Society is presenting theatre workshops at the Savoy Theatre in Perridgeva­le on performing arts discipline­s and technical topics. This week’s workshops from today until Friday, June 29 are aimed at teenagers and older, and a similar programme for younger children, from age seven to 12, will run from July 9-13. Individual workshops are R60, with the full programme R750. This week will culminate in a Showcase at 7pm on Saturday June 30, where workshop participan­ts will highlight what they have learnt. EXHIBITION WALKABOUT

Museum conservato­r Anthony Keogh will conduct a walkabout of the conservati­on exhibition, titled “Here Today, Here Tomorrow”, accompanie­d by the ceramics restorer, Lisa Walker and the paper restorer, Suzanne Louw today from 1 to 2pm. They will talk about the conservati­on and restoratio­n of paintings, ceramics and paper. Entrance is free and the exhibition will remain open until the end of July. Inquiries: (041) 506-2000.

STUDENT ARTS FESTIVAL

The CoSACSA (College, Sport, Arts and Culture South Africa) TVET Cultural Festival is hosted at the PE Opera House and the Athenaeum from today to Thursday with drama, dance, poetry, traditiona­l beauty pageant, debate, public speaking, comedy, dramatised poetry and visual arts on the programme. SECURITY TALK

The University of the Third Age will meet at the Newton Park Library auditorium tomorrow at 10am. Guest speaker Ken Munro will speak on his research “Code Breaking at Bletchley Hall during World War 2”. Entry is R20. Inquiries: Merlene Robinson, (041) 583-1568.

OUTDOOR PAINTING
