Look after our kasi, keep it clean

-

My fellow black people in ekasi, my friends and comrades,

The time has come for us to look after our own and promote the township, and be proud of the town.

If we don’t look after our own, no one will.

When we want attention and corrective response from the government we resort to burning our own developmental properties.

I ask myself: if we burn our streets, libraries, our community hall and schools, who suffers at the end of the day?

Yes, we did this way back then because of our anger and frustration plus mob emotions.

Could there be any other way to address our anger in 2018?

Is there any other way to address our issues?

Burning buildings is a call for attention, but can’t we use other measures in this day and age?

You might say I am talking nonsense – it’s fine with me.

Surely we need to rebuild our own kasi and make the best of what we have.

Let us remember the next generation, let us just be considerate for a moment and be progressive in our thinking.

I love New Brighton and I am proud of my kasi.

Let us make the best of what we have.

Let us be proud of where we come from.

Let us not allow illegal dumping in our kasi, let us keep our own kasi clean and beautiful.

It is going to take you and me to keep our township clean.

The time has come to change our mindset and be progressive in our approach.

I call upon my fellow black people to change the way we do things in order to preserve our kasi.

Let us love our place and be jealous of our township.
