Raconteur David Muller to perform in Bay
Fresh from the National Arts Festival in Makhanda, wellknown South African performer and raconteur David Muller will be riding into Port Elizabeth for a once-off, double-bill performance on Wednesday.
F Creations and The Merry Scholar have teamed up with the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) in Port Elizabeth for what is sure to be an evening of fine storytelling and good fun.
The evening will start with some audience favourites – stories told by the loveable Oom Schalk.
This famous character was created by Herman Charles Bosman and is brought to life by Muller under the direction of Celia Musikanth of Circle Productions.
After the interval, Muller will switch gears into Heathecote Williams’s Whale Nation, directed by Claire Watling.
This is the epic poem Muller performed at the NAF.
English poet, actor, playwright, screenwriter, political activist and dramatist Williams wrote a number of book-length polemical poems before his death in July last year. Whale
Nation, written in 1988, has been described as the most powerful argument yet in favour of a worldwide ban on whaling.
Catch Muller at Eddie Macs at the Victoria Park Sports Club for some excellent entertainment and to help raise funds for AACL Port Elizabeth.
All funds will be going into their Outreach account for launching dipathons, spayathons and outreach veterinary care in indigent areas.
They also have a rural outreach programme to Alicedale, Bedford and Adelaide for an annual spayathon in each of these towns.
The club bar will be open for refreshments and, for those who want to come for dinner, the restaurant will also be serving meals.
Audience members may also bring along a picnic hamper, though no beverages may be brought into the venue as there is a bar. Tickets are R85 each and doors open at 7pm. To book a seat, e-mail:
