Djokovic back in top 10 rankings
Novak Djokovic's Wimbledon win propelled him back into the top 10 of the latest ATP rankings released on Monday.
Djokovic beat SA’s Kevin Anderson 6-2 6-2 7-6 (7-3) to claim his fourth Wimbledon men’s singles crown, after wins in 2011, 2014 and 2015.
The Serbian also took his grand slam total to 13 after struggles with form and confidence sent his world ranking plummeting in the last year.
The Wimbledon win, however, launched him 11 places to 10th in the rankings, ending an eight-month top 10 exile.
Anderson, 32, moved up three places from eighth to fifth in the rankings.
Djokovic is hoping his win will mark a turning point after a difficult two years marked by loss of motivation, personal issues and niggling injuries.
Spain’s Rafael Nadal remains top of the table and has widened the gap over No 2 Roger Federer, who was eliminated by Anderson in a marathon quarterfinal. Latest ATP rankings/points: 1 Rafael Nadal (ESP) 9,310 2 Roger Federer (SUI) 7,080 3 Alexander Zverev (GER) 5,665
