WALK IN OUR PEDESTRIANS’ SHOES

Gordon Upton, why don’t you walk a mile in their shoes? There is no safe crossing for pedestrians who are forced to cross Heugh Road (and other roads). It is safer to dash across between the intersections. When crossing at the traffic light, one has to contend with the fact that when the light is red for motorists to stop, pedestrians can’t cross as motorists on green turn left and right across the pedestrian crossing. Pedestrians seldom get a chance to cross safely. Pedestrians overseas are able to cross safely because the light turns red for all motorists while they cross safely and everyone respects the rules. You didn’t mention that while pedestrians “scamper across the roads”, motorists are speeding by in posh cars talking or texting on their phones and their children are not strapped in! Why do you use words like “uncivilised” and “uncouth”? Surely you mean lawless and inconsiderate?
