WHO’S THE BOSS?

Thanks to National Treasury for stepping in to stop the circus act (“Bobani v Mettler: Treasury steps in”, September 6) and with Bicks Ndoni answering questions at a media briefing, who is running the metro?

BRAVO!

Bravo James Fisher (“Knighthood for war veteran, 93”, September 6).

ROBERT, EX-SA NAVY

PAPER INFERIOR

IAN I would like to comment on the texture of your paper. It feels inferior from previous papers. Are you cutting costs?

VAL, PORT ELIZABETH No, we are not cutting costs. With the closure of Mondi Shanduka, which manufactured newsprint for the local market until December 2017, newspaper plants across the country have had to import paper to continue producing newspapers daily. For our printing needs in the Eastern Cape, we are importing newsprint from Russia.

I admire the reader for

being able to distinguish between the texture of the newsprint that was being produced locally versus the imported paper. – Vanesdo Barendse, Tiso Blackstar Port Elizabeth printing plant manager

PRESIDENTIAL WOES

It would appear that the US has the same presidential woes that South Africa has. RICHARD, CHARLO, PORT ELIZABETH

COMMISSION POSER

The Zondo commission probing state capture by foreign agents: Phumla Williams benefited in the acting director-general position for six years. Jacob Zuma [allegedly] approved her level 16 payment. LUNGA WILLIAMS,

BETTER THAN NATS

“Hospital hate-speech row taken to court” (September 5): Nehawu chair Thando Mtshalala certainly looked after his own at Fort England with 17 out of 19 jobs [allegedly] going to family members. Even the Nats were not that good!
