It’s double-header weekend as the Northern Areas Football Association premier league rolls into the final stretch, with teams looking to wrap up their ambitions with vital wins.

Two wins and six points will go a long way to easing some of the pressure on West Lake as they face Park United away before entertaining Blackpool a day later.

They are five points ahead of Hotspurs, who are also looking for a good weekend when they host Shamrocks on Saturday before visiting Fairdene on Sunday.

Helenvale, in third position, take on fifth-placed Fairview Rovers on Saturday, both teams having had mixed results last week. Rovers went down 2-0 to West Lake, while Helenvale thumped Blackpool 5-1.

Helenvale take on Wolves on Sunday and Rovers await Ramblers.

Bloom Callies, snugly in fourth spot, will have a chance to advance on the log if results go their way. Callies have a date with Blackpool on Saturday before paying Rangers a visit the following day.

At the foot of the table, Saints will be hoping for a memorable finish against Stardrift

on Saturday before hosting Shamrocks 24 hours later.

With only 12 points from their 24 games, Saints are all but certain of relegation, and would need results elsewhere to swing their way massively if they are to entertain thoughts of remaining in the league.

Shamrocks, Celtic and Rangers will also be hoping for some positive results as they try to put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone.
