Unathi to rock the Boardwalk

-

Singer, television and radio personality Unathi Msengana is bringing her Brave, True & Strong tour to the Boardwalk in Summerstrand on Saturday September 15.

The Grahamstown-born artist will also perform in two benefit concerts for Rhodes University – where she studied journalism and drama – on Thursday and Friday September 13 and 14, with proceeds going towards student bursaries.

On Thursday, she will be perform alongside the Kwantu choir, Landile Philip and Snekhaya Magagula.

On Friday she will share a stage with a choir from her old school, Victoria Girls High School, along with Sokhana Sinama and Bamanye Saki.

The following day, when she brings Brave, True & Strong to Port Elizabeth, Msengana will take concert-goers on a whirlwind musical tour with her brand of soul and rhythm and blues.

Msengana said her latest album celebrated women's bravery, the truth she had to face up to daily and the strength she had to carry her through.

“I have taken control of my life and I know what I want to achieve. Be brave,” she said.

The former Idols judge and Metro FM radio presenter describes her new album as joyful, emotional and a breath of fresh air, with her sound definitely “what my fans have come to know”.

“If you listen carefully you will hear me speak about parts of my life that I have never shared before. Be true.”

The latest single from the album, Hallo Sana, speaks of the plight of a working mother and the pain of having to leave her kids at home while she goes to work to put food on the table.

“I have lived this and I have seen the joy on my children’s faces when I go back home. Be strong,” said the mother of two, who last year separated from her husband of eight years, Thomas Msengana, also known as Bad Boy T.

The #UnathiBTSTour will travel to seven cities in six provinces.
