Time for public to withhold the rates payments

-

“‘We are going to take all of it’ ” (September 17) refers.

From 1994 to 2016 the socalled poorest of the poor who voted for the ANC were neglected by the ANC who squandered, looted, wasted, etc, taxpayers’ monies.

All the ANC regime did was to enrich its members at the expense of those who voted them into power.

The fact that “the money was meant to come here was not coming here” must be explained by Mongameli Bobani and his ANC coalition.

What happened to that money from 1994 to 2016?

In two years (2016 to 2018) the DA coalition has turned around a corrupt ANC regime in Nelson Mandela Bay.

At the time of its contested ousting, Nelson Mandela Bay’s coffers reflected a positive balance of R2bn, money the ANC and its coalition want to now get their hands on!

Bobani, together with his “relevant officials in tow”, is now trying to buy votes from those who have been neglected by the corrupt regime of the ANC and its coalition with money he intends taking from the “affluent” areas’ rates paid.

His dictatorial attitude must be challenged and must not be accepted by the “affluent” areas. The Nelson Mandela Bay Ratepayers Association must now not just threaten a boycott.

Come now Kobus Gerber, make sure the boycott becomes a reality.

The so-called “affluent” areas and businesses in Nelson Mandela Bay need to unite, and provide Gerber and the Nelson Mandela Bay Ratepayers Association with the necessary support.

If funds are withheld Bobani and the coalition will not be able to get their hands on this money. Andre Swart Jeffreys Bay

It saddened me to read the article in Monday’s paper with regard to a statement made by Bobani, “We are going to take all of it”.

It just shows you how desperate he is to try to secure votes for next year’s elections.

I have decided that he certainly is not going to get my rates and I urge all the people paying rates, let us all withhold our rates for a few months and let’s see how Bobani is going to survive.

We cannot have someone like this man running our city.

In response to the careless statement by Bobani, might he be reminded that it is the more affluent areas that pay their accounts for the pitiful services that our city provides and maybe when the affluent residents receive their accounts, they should just ignore them!

Time is fast approaching for Port Elizabeth residents to take a stand against the blatant ignorance that is running our city. Sick of stupidity Port Elizabeth
