Nervy wait for West Lake

- Amir Chetty chettyam@tisoblackstar.co.za

With the Northern Areas Football Association premier league season about to end, West Lake will have to wait one more week to see if they are to be crowned champions.

The Salt Lake side’s match against Rangers looks set to be postponed as the club have some off-field issues.

But they will get a chance to confirm their champion status against Shamrocks on Sunday.

Fourth-placed Fairview Rovers will need more than 12 points if they are to snatch the title from West Lake.

Rovers host Bloom Callies on Saturday and clash with Park United next, on Sunday.

Despite finding themselves in second place on the log, Hel- envale cannot win the league even if they win their last two matches.

They welcome Park United on Saturday before taking on relegation-threatened Saints on Sunday in their final game of the season.

Hotspurs also have no chance of reaching the top as the most they can end on is 55 points. They take on Celtic on Saturday, then travel to Ramblers a day later.

Fairdene, in fifth spot, will end on 56 points if they can muster 12 points from their next four matches.

Relegation-threatened Saints will be hoping results go their way, with the Gelvandale side in with a shout of sneaking in by the back door.

Rangers, along with Celtic and Shamrocks, are not entirely out of the woods either, with all of them still in the relegation zone.
