NOT FAIR

It’s ridiculous. Cabinet ministers and their directors get next-to-free accommodation and the rest of us are paying through the nose on fuel prices. IAN

HEARD OTHER SIDE

John Finlayson defends Brett Kavanaugh and chastises Justice Malala (“Be fair in coverage of judge”, October 1). Finlayson says, “Few people in SA have even listened to or heard the other side of the story.”

Actually we have heard the other side of the story. We heard it on Real Time with Bill Maher on September 28.

These are some of the comments of Maher's guests, April Ryan, Max Brooks and Evelyn Parkus, made about Kavanaugh: “He has lied in the past, bad dude” and “His college yearbook reveals he was a liar and a drunk with a great sense of entitlement”. (It seems the FBI missed that information in the six detailed reports and hours of questioning you say Kavanaugh had to undergo before being found to be a man of “high integrity”).

Maher's guests also said, “The way Kavanaugh has gone about defending himself demonstrates that he has abandoned the impartiality of a judge.” You may want to apologise to Malala. SCREWTAPE
