Truth that women also abusers denied

- Mircea Negres Port Elizabeth

In my letter, “Education no guarantee of success” (October 5), I stated that the two PhD bearers I once met did not impress me.

Well, Dr Casper Lötter and the article titled “MeToo movement opens social agenda for women” (October 3) impressed even less.

Furthermore, the sorry excuse for an article served to question for the umpteenth time the impartiality and dedication to truth of the editorial staff at The Herald when it comes to certain issues.

They yet again published a blatantly self-serving and utterly misandrist article which pushes the deceitful, hysterical and completely false assertion that only men abuse, rape and murder.

I’ll then shout: “Juana Bormann, Elisabeth Volkenrath and Irma Griese were hanged for crimes against humanity they’d committed in Nazi death camps!

“Maria Mandel, another death camp official, was found guilty of the murders of 500,000 women and children!

“Waneta Hoyt killed five of her six kids by suffocation and it on sudden infant death syndrome!

“Martha Ann Johnson smothered her children to death after each argument with her husband!”

“Oh, but those women are German and American,” you’d say.

What about Cezanne “advocate Barbie” Visser?

One of her many victims committed suicide, yet there she is, out on parole, ready to re-offend!

“Three women offer man a ride, then drug and force him to have sex with them” – that was pretty much the caption for two stories (in Limpopo and Eastern Cape) – and those women have never been caught. Nice going, SAPS!

“Woman caught having sex with nine-year-old boy” was yet another headline two to three weeks ago, and there are more stories like these.

Far more, too many in fact, but the #MeToo-obsessed SA and world in general have no interest in investigating and publicising these stories.

Why? Why is it so hard to acknowledge that women can be evil too, that just like some loathsome “men”, women also prey on those whom they are supposed to support, protect and nurture?

I know why.

It’s fear of being falsely accused of being sexist by the unthinking mob because the truth contradicts the current false narrative.

So long as we keep denying the truth about abuse, we will never win the war against it, because to fight and win a war requires courage, and how many of you have it?
