BEACH CLEAN-UP
Wessa Algoa Bay will conclude Marine Week on Saturday October 20 with a beach clean-up at King’s Beach from 9.30 to 10.30am. Meet at the end of the concrete path between the grass open space and the King’s Beach Surf Lifesaving Clubhouse and bring hats, water and sunscreen. Wessa will provide bags and latex gloves, but bring your own (garden) gloves if you have a pair.

SELF-DEFENCE
Yokhuselo Haven is teaming up with Pearson High School Interact Club, Caileigh Stap from Boost and Gina Kilian on Saturday October 20 for a self-defence and safety awareness workshop in Summerstrand.
The workshop will be held in the Pearson High School hall from 9am and is open to all ages and all genders. Entry is free but a donation of R20 is welcome.

● An exhibition The Mother Tongue: The Influence of Traditional Xhosa Fashion on Contemporary Design, is on at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum. Mother Tongue celebrates local fashion and features the museum’s collection of traditional Southern Nguni beadwork and textiles, alongside selected works by textile designer Laduma Ngxokolo.

UITENHAGE BY CANDLELIGHT
The Uitenhage and District Music Development Project is hosting a candlelight event at St Luke’s Methodist Church, Jongilanga, in Kwanobuhle on Sunday at midday. The event to honour late choral musicians from Uitenhage is the first of a series lined up, including a gala dinner on December 7 and the launch of the project’s church choir competition on December 8.

ECPO CONCERT
The Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a symphony concert From Opera to Brahms at 3pm on Sunday at the Feather Market Centre under the baton of conductor David Scarr.
