LOOTING OUT OF HAND

What’s going on on this Earth? Is this what we were struggling for?

Well-educated grownup adults earning big monies, and still looting sick people’s food, equipment and money. What are your families saying, seeing your faces and names in the newspaper? How do you explain this to you kids?

Is this greed our culture? Our country is at zero but you are still finishing it. If you look around you everything is out of hand. Shame on our freedom. B MABI, UITENHAGE

WATER LEAK STILL NOT FIXED

A water leak in West Street, Newton Park, pictured, was reported on September 5 – reference number 1090540. A second reference number, 1105589, two weeks later. No reaction from the water department yet after eight weeks. Please help. CHRIS BOTHA, NEWTON PARK, PORT ELIZABETH

STOPPED DONATING BLOOD

Regarding the shortage of blood at the blood bank (“Blood shortage in Eastern Cape”, November 9), for years I diligently donated blood every three/four months. Then the day came that I was at the clinic and the training nurses couldn’t get a vein to take my cholesterol. I went to the blood bank with the syringe to help me.

They refused to take my blood for the test. Well, I quit giving blood. That is what I call a stink for a thank you for all of the years that I had given blood.

THANKS FOR PRINTING COMPLAINT

Thanks The Herald for advertising my pain that I have gone through in the Kirkwood police station (“Heard nothing from police”, November 6). I shortened my story. There is a lot more frustrating and humiliating harassment by police in Kirkwood ever since, seeing I was not from there.

GOOD LUCK AT TRAFFIC OFFICE

Answering Ian (“Answer the phone”, November 12), I was phoning the Uitenhage traffic department for days. I went in person and was rudely asked if [the official] must answer the phone or [do] the bookings? If you don’t answer the phone, you can’t make bookings. Go to the traffic department, turn right in the building, last door on your left. Then you can get an appointment. Good luck. DES U

WOULD TAKE AIM AT LUNGISA

Andile Lungisa takes aim (“‘Underperforming’ MBDA board must go, says Lungisa”, November 9): I know many people who would give what to take aim at him! RICHARD, CHARLO, PORT ELIZABETH

WHY A WHITE LAWYER?

If the so-called black caucus within council propagates all that is black, and thanks itself that it has got rid of Athol Trollip and his perceived white DA, why then a white lawyer is engaged to defend mayor Mongameli Bobani? Just asking. IAN

WASTE OF MONEY

Here I go again! Ten minutes to read Monday morning’s The Herald – seven minutes for sport and three minutes for ANC rubbish. Absolute waste of money.

PLETTENBERG BAY CLEAN

Visiting Plettenberg Bay was a learning experience. Very well maintained, clean and healthy, no plastic and papers blowing around. Wish Port Elizabeth officials could visit and see how they keep their town clean. MICKEY DLOVA, PORT ELIZABETH
