Thrills on tap at Scribante

-

Aldo Scribante Racetrack will host a spectacular end to the race season on Saturday.

The Algoa Motor Sport Club has attracted more than 325 entries from the Bay and around the country.

The highlight is the Midas PE 3-Hour Endurance race for cars and the Mahle PE 200 Motorcycle race.

There will be prize money on offer for most races, including the traditional £200 (R3,750) for the PE 200 bike winner.

The entry list for the Midas PE 3-Hour endurance race for cars is fully subscribed to Aldo Scribante’s 43-car grid limit.

All-Cape endurance race experts Francis Carruthers and Johan Engelbrecht in their Corvette-propelled Aquila CR7 should start as favourites.

SAEC regulars Fritz Kleynhans and James Forbes in their Comenius Ligier, Trevor and Shannon Frost’s similar Strocam car and any of the fleet of Shelby Nissans, including Bay lass Tanya Watts and Ian Shrosbree, Mike Verrier, Garth de Villiers and Mark Lauth will fancy their chances.

There will be a swarm of Lotus Sevens driven by the likes of Bay heroes Chassen Bright, Bryn High, Kean Barnard and Troy Marais, Hennie Trollip, Jimbo Dunn, Anton Ehlers and Jacques Strydom, along with SAEC team

Eric Salomon and Dave Sinclair’s Elf S06.

The Mahle PE 200 has attracted a top-class motorcycle field, with Bernard and Brandon Haupt sharing a Yamaha R1 against David McFadden and AJ Venter’s similar machines and Hashim Amra, Anda Gwele, Abongile and Owethu Krexe’s BMWs.

The action starts at 8am, the final flag dropping at 9pm.
