NOT INTERESTED

“Name-change hearing battles to fly” (November 14): so 10 souls pitched for the meeting. Surely this suggests that the rest of us have no interest nor appetite for the matter. It might also suggest that the committee should quietly pack up and go away.

MAD MOLLY

GREAT CARTOON

Sick leave! Great cartoon by Mark Wiggett (November 12). ANC ministers teaching children how to cheat!

CONGRATULATIONS!

“PE policeman is top East Cape detective” (November 13): we need many more dedicated detectives like Ridwaan Baatjies. Congrats to him and the other detectives. FAITH

NO NAME GIVEN

Why does the author of “Does ANC get away with just paying back money?”, in Tuesday’s The Herald, not have to identify himself or herself? I thought that was the rule.

READER The editor’s note at the bottom of the Chirps column states, “The Herald will withhold letter writers’ names from publication on request, but details must be provided.” The writer of the letter mentioned provided a name, address and phone number, as requested, but asked for just an initial to be used for publication. – The editor NO MONEY Is there nobody with brains in the municipality? It can’t fix the water leaks and potholes in PE because there is no money, but it wants to buy a soccer team from Bloemfontein. LEON

REPLIES TO READERS

“Water leak still not fixed” (November 13): I also reported the West Street leak on November 5 – reference 1107838 – and one in Third Avenue on November 1 – reference 1109269. Neither are repaired.

One can see the DA no longer runs the metro. It repaired leaks in 24 hours. ANDREW JOSEPH, NEWTON

PARK, PORT ELIZABETH “Stopped donating blood” (November 13): I would gladly take your blood if nurses are struggling, Mrs Flanders.

DR YAKOOB Thank you for your response on my request to revive a historical column (“History articles welcomed”, November 14) and if the majority of your readers voted otherwise, so be it. Rather sadly, as a subscriber of 28 years, I was then not asked my opinion!

And as for your present content mix, why not ask the same question to your loyal subscribers and not your readership?

IAN PRINGLE

ANC INEPT

Sterkstroom school torched! Congratulations to the inept ANC and those who voted them into office. RICHARD, CHARLO, PORT ELIZABETH

Harbour crane: will the harbour authority let the public know the reason for this mishap and what the cost will be to the taxpayer? SEADOG CONSEQUENCES SABC: if the lights go out, what happens to Multichoice transmission?
