Next weekend’s Corona Beach Camp Festival – organised by the team behind Baakens Food Truck Funday – will have a packed musical lineup featuring 17 local acts and DJs.

The festival is being planned as an annual family event and will run from 11am to 11pm on Saturday November 24 at Mangolds Pool on Marine Drive, Schoenmakerskop.

Co-organiser Tayla Foong said there would be two music stages, focusing on “a 100% local lineup of the very best the Eastern Cape has to offer”.

Highlights, Foong said, would include ZA'frotronixx Experiment, a Bay-based band made up of three brothers from the Ivory Coast performing alongside soul singer Zani Sizani; and Thoko, who has been making waves around SA with her hit song with DJ Euphonic, titled Apologies.

“On the DJ front, the act I am most looking forward to is Subtrakshun – the alias which Michael Vieira goes under. Playing around with DJ equipment at his dad's sound hire shop in Greenshields Park, and listening to all genres of music, Mike, 23, has mastered his musical craft.”

Foong said she was also looking forward to the Lawson Brown Steel Band. Other acts and DJs are Emile Naidu, Devon van Driel, Jason Gladwin, Beddlam, Legato SA, Wesley Keet, Micayla-Jean Colborne, Doppelgänger, SHAM De FUNK, Muzero, Jesse James, Chance and Henri H-Bomb.

Activities will include a trail run; yoga; a Secret Sunrise dance; snorkeling tours; a popup cinema; as well as helicopter flips. These tickets will be sold separately.

The Baakens Food Trucks will sell street food, the Corona beach bar will provide drinks and there will be a craft market.

Tickets at R100 for adults and R30 for children are available from Pro Dive in Walmer, La Boca in Central, Foong’s in the Baakens Valley and at Mangolds Pool. Online tickets are at
