Old Grey aim for full points

- Alvin Reeves reevesa@tisoblackstar.co.za

It is early days in the NMB Premier League cricket competition, but joint log-leaders Tavcor Commercial Old Grey and BLG Gelvandale will be looking to build on their success of the opening weekend.

Both sides enjoyed two victories last weekend to set the pace at the top of the standings.

Old Grey will fancy their chance of making it four out of four with another doubleheader planned for this weekend.

On Saturday, they host Motherwell at Freeplay Park, while Sunday will see them travel to face SUPERSPAR Despatch. Both their opponents conceded bonus-point defeats last weekend.

Gelvandale face a tricky fixture at home to SA Home Loans Union on Saturday, but the hosts are a tough nut to crack in their own back yard.

On Sunday, Union face United Brothers at the Dan Qeqe Stadium, with the home team desperate to bounce back from a big defeat to league newcomers Bloemendal, who have won one and lost one.

Finnis Street outfit Bloemendal have an away trip to Old Muir 1 to play Mechatronic Uitenhage on Saturday.

PECC will want to bounce back from two defeats last weekend with solid performances against Jendamark United and Uitenhage.
