BAD DECISION TO ALLOW DRINKING

“Boozing beachgoers ‘tolerated’ ” (November 20) refers. There are candidate lifesavers who are expected to be on duty during the holiday season. Who will be responsible for their safety? Will Kithi Ngesi give up Christmas Day with her family to patrol and protect the public? This decision is shocking and by allowing alcohol on beaches, the municipality is opening up the floodgates of chaos which volunteers could never cope with.

CORA ADCOCK, PORT ELIZABETH

Who is Kithi Ngesi to change the law? It states there will be no drinking in public. The SAPS is there to enforce the law. She cannot override it. Drinking must not be allowed during the season on PE beaches.

L MCLEOD

Cannot believe that city is actually giving permission for people to drink in public. Maybe they will have a change of heart if their loved ones get injured or killed because of drunk beach goers.

CLEAN CITY THROUGHOUT YEAR

“Frustration as huge Bay clean-up stalls” (November 16): the MMC public health should enquire from her senior management why they wait until the end of the year to clean the city and townships. If they did their work throughout the year, the metro wouldn’t be in such a filthy state. Time someone gets shaken up.

TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT WORST IN SA

NMB traffic department is the worst in SA. You never see an officer on the road over weekends.
