A Uitenhage a capella quintet which has been involved in the local music scene for 10 years, will celebrate this milestone with the launch of a 13-track gospel album at Nelson Mandela University on Saturday December 1.

Noted Vocal Group was formed in 2008 while the members were still in different high schools in Uitenhage and initially operated under the name Beginnings.

As the group grew more popular, performing at weddings, churches, corporate events and concerts across the country, they changed their name to Noted.

“What we sing about can't go unnoticed – the message of Christ’s soon return is to be Noted,” group member Luvuyo Nogampula said. The group consists of soprano Asemahle Nkume, alto Thantaswa Siyoni, tenor Sibabalwe Booi, bassist Siphosethu Makeleni and vocal percussionist Luvuyo Nogampula.

The group’s debut album, titled Take Your Time, contains the single Bayethe, which was released in August.

Although the independent group have always composed and arranged their own music, the members have collaborated with artists such as The Muffinz’s vocalists Mile Ciyoni and Simphiwe Kula, producer Mpendulo Sibayoni and pianist Mpho Koapedi.

The launch is at 6pm at the south campus auditorium.

Tickets cost R100 and the CD will be on sale for R120. A CD-and-ticket combo is R180. ● More information on 071756-0261 or 084-970-7326.
