Chrome Yellow set to melt the track

- Punters’ Pal

It has been a bit of a tough time for punters countrywide at the race courses recently as they are struggling to get into the mood of the festive season.

As always, the punters will return to the scene of the crime and try to make amends for the upset results that made life difficult for them.

Last Friday at Fairview there were huge payouts as punters struggled to find the winners.

We have another very difficult card this Friday but it also means there are plenty of opportunities to make some money.

Visiting trainer André Nel might be able to help us out with a banker or two.

He is attacking the Fairview meeting with five runners and is in the Friendly City to win.

All the Nel runners have winning chances in their respective races but the one that stands out is the gelding Crome Yellow in the third race. This race is also the first leg of the Pick Six.

Crome Yellow has Aldo Domeyer in the saddle and looks too strong for his opposition in a Maiden Plate.

Even if this strong banker in the first leg comes home smoking, the Pick Six will still not be easy to catch as the other five legs look very competitive.

There is no feature race but the sprint race for fillies and mares is the one not to be missed.

In the field of nine runners are some very good fillies to make sure this battle will be the highlight of the meeting.

Nel gets involved in this one with Straat-Kind but local challengers like Mary O’Reilly and Saltire will ensure a very exciting affair.

This month it is party time at Fairview as some companies combine their year-end functions with a day at the races. The punters will no doubt join the festivities if they can pull off the Pick Six or the ever-popular Place Accumulator.

Fairview trainer Yvette Bremner will be flying the flag for the Eastern Cape at Kenilworth in Cape Town on Saturday.

The very speedy Port Elizabeth filly Princess Rebel will contest the Southern Cross Stakes and the East Cape fans will be shouting her home.
