Loaded trucks a problem in Mission Road

-

Heavy duty loaded trucks travel daily and continuously down Mission Road into Stanford Road.

A few have already lost their loads in this road.

A few years back the brakes apparently failed on a loaded truck at about seven in the morning, the driver jumped out of the truck and it crashed into a house.

Luckily no cars were crossing at the robots then at Mission and Stanford roads.

On Monday it happened again, but this time a truck smashed into a family’s car and apparently two people died.

How many more accidents and fatalities should we endure?

Mission Road is totally damaged because of these heavy loaded vehicles.

My wish is that authorities check on these truck owners to certify if these vehicles are serviced regularly and in a roadworthy condition, but most importantly is to put in calming measures for the truck drivers and a compulsory stop for all trucks before entering Stanford Road.

It would even be better if there was an alternative route for these heavy loaded trucks.

I invite The Herald to visit Mission Road from the Stanford Road crossing until the Greenbushes turnoff to observe the road conditions.

So many drivers use this road and windscreens are at times damaged because of the gravel transported by trucks.

Our deepest sympathy to the bereaved family, and I pray to God that safety measures will be implemented and that this will be the last accident due to loaded trucks. Reginald Saptoe
