MISS HOLIDAY FEATURE

For many years The Herald sent young people and a photographer around town to advertise what was on during the Christmas season. Why was a good idea stopped? There are various events and activities, but their advertising is so disjointed.

Nowhere have I seen a list of what to do with children and young adults, historical places of interest, craft markets through the season, musical shows and events, and so on. Then we see the visitor numbers are down. Why?

READER Though there isn’t a dedicated holiday fun page this year, all the events, markets and shows running during the holidays are carried in the daily What’s On section in The Herald, including the bumper Friday What’s On. – The Herald executive news editor Brett Adkins

DISGUSTED BY COMPLAINTS

I refer to “Paid for report” (December 18). Driver, I was shocked to read that you were made to pay for your accident report, but more so disgusted in your complaining about staff being underpaid. How do you know that? And then came the shocker of the year: apartheid furniture that should be removed. Serious?

METRO COPS NOWHERE TO BE SEEN

Metro police – what’s that? No metro police at the beachfront, weekdays or weekends. No rules for taxis and the use of alcohol at the beachfront. What a mess after Sunday night’s opening of the season – broken bottles everywhere. Still no cleaners on Monday morning at 7am.
