Official opening a real banger

-

Hello dolls.

Here’s hoping Dezemba is treating you as you deserve.

Though, for some of us, Dezemba (also known as the festive season) is a lifestyle all year round, while it began over a month ago, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality officially opened the season with a bang (literally) on Sunday.

After much confusion about whether Prince Kaybee was in fact coming to perform at the opening event at Hobie Beach or not, he showed up and had the Bay dancing its heart out.

However, between the loud music, excited patrons and fireworks, Skinnerbek’s anxiety skyrocketed and I could not wait to get my cute behind out of that mess.

Skinners loves her fun, especially if she gets to watch the yummy Prince Kaybee work his decks like he was born for it, but there are few things she dislikes more than fireworks in crowded spaces.

Blame my overactive imagination if you will, but Bay revellers sure seemed to be having the time of their lives when DJ Superman would not let the Idibala Challenge wave pass him by.

The weekend was a busy one as it seemed visitors from out of PE viewed the Bay as the place to be.

Those visitors included some SABC1 actors and presenters who had an interactive day with their fans at Kings Beach on Saturday during their Coast to Coast tour.

Some of these were Uzalo’s

Khaya Dladla and Nokuthula Mabika, Khumbulekhaya presenter Andile Gaelisiwe and iKani’s Bakwateleni Jiyane. While Skinners sensed some diva attitude from Dladla at a certain event a while ago, he seemed to be in a better mood with his fans this time around.

The Bay may as well have owned the whole channel as SABC1 music show Live Amp

was broadcast live from Cubana in Summerstrand on Friday night as part of the #LiveAmpInvasion.

Now, you already know this one was a banger.

Not only did PE partygoers show up in numbers (anything for the slightest chance to be on TV), but the venue was a celebrity hub as more SABC1 stars put on their dancing shoes and let loose.

Skinners spotted Manaka Ranaka, who plays the funny Lucy on Generations: The Legacy, Skeem Saam’s Gift Mokhampanyane and Diamond City’s Angela Sithole.

And DJ Lamiez Holworthy’s (inserts a dozen fire emojis) set at the afterparty had Skinnerbek wondering why the DJ fraternity is still male-dominated.

The Bay’s party peeps got to dance to the sounds of Mobi Dixon, Dj Speedsta and more right here in the windy city.

As fun as it is to tell you all about the local party life, Skinnerbek will be taking a muchneeded break for the holidays.

Have a merry Christmas, a prosperous new year and party ‘til you drop without worrying too much about this gossip gal spotting you.

Ciao!
