Top 10 confirmed for Queen's Plate

-

TEN of the 12 runners stood their ground for the Grade 1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate over 1600m on Saturday, January 5 and this is a race made up of pure quality.

It is headed up by Legal Eagle, unbeaten in 10 starts over 1 600m. Sean Tarry’s charge will be looking to emulate Pocket Power by winning four consecutive Queen’s Plates but he is facing a number of top-class runners.

Legal Eagle won the Green Point Stakes with Undercover Agent second, Do It Again third and Rainbow Bridge fourth. Just 0,40 lengths covered the quartet as they crossed the line and they will all meet again.

Add to that Buffalo Bill Cody and Soqrat, two horses from the Mike de Kock yard who have also avoided defeat over 1 600m. Soqrat, who will carry 55kg, won the Grade 1 Cape Guineas while the stable are talking about Buffalo Bill Cody as if he were the next Horse Chestnut.

Then we have the filly Snowdance, who loves the Kenilworth 1 600m and gets 2,5kg from most of the big guns. - Phumelela
