DINNER FOR ONE
Pemads is presenting its annual Twelfth Night awards ceremony at the Little Theatre in Athol Fugard Terrace at 6.30 for 7pm on Saturday. Besides awards for 2018 productions Rent, The Musical, The Rise and Fall of Little Voice and Sinbad, there will be a performance of the comedy sketch Dinner for One starring Linda-Louise Swain and Leslie Speyers, and entertainment by Sandi Osborne. AUDITIONS FOR SHAKESPEARE
The PE Shakespearean Society is holding auditions on Saturday at 2.30pm at Mannville for its March production of As You Like It. Play director Jacques Batista plans to cast as many young people as possible in this version of the Shakespeare comedy with an emphasis on physical theatre. JOHNNY CASH
Centrestage presents its Johnny Cash tribute show, Walk the Line, at Old Grey on Friday and Saturday. It features Lionel Hunt with Hugo Kleinhans and Megan du Toit, as well as musicians Andrew Warneke and Kevin Mattheus. STRICTLY LANGARM

SHAMROCKS IN SOUTH END
The South End Museum Trust is hosting the Shamrocks Football Club’s 100th Anniversary Exhibition. It will be open from 10am to 3pm until January 14.

XHOSA ART AND FASHION
An exhibition The Mother Tongue: The Influence of Traditional Xhosa Fashion on Contemporary Design is on at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum. Mother Tongue celebrates local fashion and features the museum’s collection of traditional Southern Nguni beadwork and textiles alongside selected works by textile designer Laduma Ngxokolo. The exhibition closes in March 2019.

CREATIVE BLOCK
The GFI Art Gallery is exhibiting items from the Spier Creative Block collection until January 26. The gallery is at 30 Park Drive in Central and is open from 10am to 4pm on weekdays and from 10am to 1pm on Saturdays.

VOETSAC HIKING CLUB
The Voetsac Hiking Club hosts regular weekend hikes and day walks, and is going on an easy 8km walk at Van Staden’s Flower Reserve on Saturday January 12.
This hike is open to all and costs R5.
Voetsac is taking a more challenging excursion to Tanglewood Pools in the Eland’s River Valley, also on Saturday January 12. This route of 12km is graded as a moderate hike and participants are asked to pay R35.

PARKRUNS IN PE
Take part in one of four parkruns in Port Elizabeth: PE Hobie Beach, Lady Slipper, Wells Estate and Sardinia Bay.
The parkrun is a 5km fun run at 8am every Saturday, which is free and open to all, but if you want a time, please register for a barcode at www.parkrun.co.za.
The Hobie run starts at the palm tree next to Shark Rock Pier; Sardinia Bay is at the Grass Roof in Heron Road; Lady Slipper is at Slipperfields, and Wells Estate is at St George’s Strand.

BIRDLIFE EASTERN CAPE OUTING
Birdlife Eastern Cape is starting 2019 with an outing on Sunday morning to Mondplaas and Melon to watch water birds. Meet leader Patrick Brett at 6am at Schultz's, West Street, Newton Park.
