Bay side extend lead in ABC Motsepe group

Sibanye FC extended their lead in the ABC Motsepe League by beating Butterwort­h 1-0 at Ibika Campus in Butterwort­h on Saturday.

The Port Elizabeth-based side are on top of the log with 31 points halfway through the season, but just two points clear of second-placed PE Stars, who are on 29.

The win also saw Sibanye extend their unbeaten record to five matches. From the 15 games played so far, the team have scored nine wins, four draws and only two defeats.

Meanwhile, Stars’ close 3-2 win over Queenstown Amavarara has seen them climb up the log to second spot.

Peace Makers have also extended their winning run to four consecutiv­e victories this weekend after beating Bizana Pondo Chiefs 1-0 on Saturday.

The team, which is in sixth position at the halfway mark, have collected 27 points so far from 15 matches.

Motherwell side Swartkops Valley United brothers lost to East London’s Tornado, while Highbury beat struggling The Guys 2-0 .
