Goals from Rhulani Manzini and Kurt Lentjies saw Chippa United continue their good run in the Absa Premiership after they beat Free State Stars 2-0 at Goble Park in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

Since coach Clinton Larsen took over, the Chilli Boys have gone four matches unbeaten.

But, more importantly, the win has seen Chippa move to 13th place on the log.

Larsen applauded his defensive structure for a job well done.

“It was such a difficult game,” the coach said.

“In the first half they attacked us and we knew we had to defend well.

“We put our bodies on the line and blocked everything.

“That is the type of performance we need when we are on the road and fighting for points.” Larsen said he had told his players to maintain their defensive discipline, which would create some chances.

“We did that and went into the break with the lead.

“I said the next goal is important. If we get it, it’s game over. Fortunately we got a brilliant goal from Lentjies.”

He said based on the team’s second-half performance they deserved the win.
