Water polo match off after violence

A water polo match between Serbian club Red Star Belgrade and Croatia’s Mornar was cancelled on Saturday after three Serb players were attacked, local media reported.

One Red Star player even jumped in the sea at Split in a bid to escape several youngsters who attacked the group of Serbs after they refused their request to remove the club’s insignia.

In Belgrade, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said he would send a protest letter to Croatia and insisted the perpetrators be identified and brought to justice, Beta news agency reported. –
