NOTHING TO OFFER

The drop in foreign visitors over December is not surprising as the beachfront is a pigsty between the opening of the season and the new year. Out of bounds and an embarrassment for locals, never mind tourists.

EMBARRASSED RESIDENT ý Bay sees big drop in foreign visitors ... What on earth do you expect? Dirty city, heritage sites broken, rampant crime, clown leadership, and nothing to offer a tourist, not even a clean beach.

GET RID OF PLASTIC

Why is The Herald and also the Weekend Post being delivered wrapped in plastic bags? I thought we were trying to eliminate the use of plastic.

THINK ABOUT IT

DEAD DOG HAZARD

If one drives around our road and streets, especially in our township, one will notice the number of dead dogs lying all over, causing a health hazard. I think we have more dogs than we need. The municipality needs to take dogs from owners if one has more than one dog.

DAVID, MOTHERWELL

IT COULD BE WORSE

Just imagine what the Eskom debt would have been if Zuma and his cronies had succeeded in finalising the Russian nuclear deal. They need to investigate those involved and jail them.

DAVEY CROCKETT

KEEPING IT IN FAMILY

“Cyril sticks to his guns.” If we believe Cyril then there is absolutely no truth in the e-mail from the DA about his brothers-in-law taking control of Eskom and making the debt disappear!

COSATU PART OF PLAN

“Cosatu posturing” is part of the plan to divert attention away from the unbundling of Eskom and where the bundles are going to. Watch carefully.

FRANK ý Isn’t it typical Cosatu thinking – we stop working with a national strike to save jobs. Part of the reason jobs are being shed is because labour is continually disrupting the economy. Ask yourself why union membership in the US is at its lowest at the same time unemployment is at an all-time low.

CHANGE FOR BETTER

Change is inevitable in today’s world. Chippa changed their coach and are now on an unbeaten run. Manchester United changed their coach and in the English Premier League they are unbeaten. Both these teams are doing quite well. Just a suggestion for the Kings rugby team to think about changing their coach and manager. Who knows what the results will be?

PATHETIC EXCUSE

Transnet port engineer Theo Sethosa revealed the delays in getting the long- mooted waterfront development off the ground were a result of the change in Transnet’s executive management in November 2018. What a pathetic excuse – if concrete plans were put in place by the previous management, then these so-called plans would have been extended to the new management to continue with the planning.

ANTI-ORE DUST

GUILT ADMITTED

The traffic officer admitted soliciting a bribe and the proof is in the video recording, but yet no suspension during the investigation. Shocking attitude of the authorities.

JUST GIVE UP

This is how our law enforcement officials stop at red traffic lights (above). Let’s just give up. There is no hope. H FRAHM

ACCOUNT HEADACHES

NMB water meter disaster. Four months after having the municipality replace my meter the account still shows the old water meter number. I am unable to submit my readings via the IVR system so I am billed with an estimated reading, which increases every month. My last account was four times higher than my average consumption. You can go in personally, make telephone calls, send emails but to no avail. I expected a delay in processing the paperwork but this is ridiculous. Does nobody at the municipality take responsibility?

Y C WILLIAMS ý Brister “House of Shame”. Mr Bobani, can you and your entourage please let our rates/ accounts payment section be privatised? Reason: I don’t think your people employed there are interested in doing their jobs – the system is almost non-existent. The moment you inquire about your account they stop sending statements. And if they don’t send an SMS, you will sit in a long queue for half a day, just for a printout to pay your account. All this time wasting, these wasteful days smartly created by the decision makers of the NMB metro.

CHECK BEFORE PAYING

Mr Bobani, how can you pay money to contractors before the job was done? you first have to inspect the drains etc to make sure that the job was done properly before you make payments. R21m madness. L McLEOD

BILL FOR NO SERVICE

No landline or internet service for two weeks and it is a business line. Reported the problem to Telkom. No repair done. But we are still billed for a service we are not receiving. Isn’t that theft? KEITH
