PLASTIC PROTECTS YOUR PAPER

Re The Herald and Weekend Post wrapped in plastic. Dear, think about it. Probably you are, like me, a subscriber of these newspapers delivered early in the morning, come rain or shine. You may be happy with a soaked newspaper, I would not be.

GORDON UPTON

ý I asked the same question of our paper deliverer and suggested he place the paper in the post box. His reply was, people steal from the post box and he gets blamed for non-delivery. If your paper is not protected from rain, it would be unreadable.

DEREK CUMMINGS

ý If the reader is subscribing, of course your paper should be in a plastic bag, or would you rather like to have a dirty, wet paper? Keep your plastics for recycling!

MAN IN UNIFORM ASKED FOR BEER

On February 17, at about 2.35pm, I was driving in Milner Street, Sydenham. A white Polo behind me was flicking its lights and I became scared, as a woman, because of all the bad things happening. I then stopped next to the stadium. A man in uniform got out of the Polo and asked in a loud, scary voice why I did not stop. He was very rude. I found out I had forgotten my driver’s licence. He then got inside my car and asked for a drink. I gave him Coke, which he refused. He said he wanted a six-pack of beers. I told him I don’t have money. He then issued me with a ticket.

NO TAXIS STOPPED AT ROADBLOCK

I was stopped in 8th Avenue this week by at least 12 traffic officers checking on outstanding fines. However, I didn’t see one taxi among all the stopped vehicles. Did they know about the roadblock?
