JAZZ AFRO SUNDAYS

ART ON TARGET

Art on Target opens its Milestone exhibition on Friday February 22 at 6pm, with work by top students Alvarito Felix, Tristan Drewry, Debra de Beer, as well as a selection from its most promising students. BIRDLIFE TRIP

Birdlife Eastern Cape is going on an all-day outing on Saturday February 23 to Innikloof farm at Hankey, led by Andy Nixon. Meet at 6am on Saturday at the Pick n Pay carpark on the corner of Fourth Avenue in Newton Park. Petrol is R90 per passenger and there is an R20 entry fee to the farm, which has a forested kloof where you can spot the African warbler and African finfoot. HIKING CLUB

The Voetsac Hiking Club will do two hikes on Saturday February 23. One group will visit Maitland Reserve for an easy forest hike of 13km. Both hikes cost R5. A second group will go to Van Stadens Dam, for a moderate hike of 12km. Both hikes cost R5.

KNIGHTS OF DA GAMA MARKET

ECPO MUSIC AT THE MARKET

The Eastern Cape Philharmon­ic Orchestra will play at Algoa FM’s Music @ the Market at 5pm on Saturday and at midday on Sunday February 23 and 24 at the Feather Market Centre. Richard Cock will conduct the concerts, with Rocco de Villiers on piano, Magda de Vries on marimba, vocalist Asemahle Tsholoba and the Bruckner University Big Band from Austria. There will also be food trucks. Music @ the Market is at 5pm on Saturday and at midday on Sunday. Tickets are on sale at Computicke­t, ranging from R20 to R120. SARDS BARK PARK

The Sards Market in the Park is on Saturday February 23 from 9am to 2pm at the Sards Bark Park, 418 Sardinia Bay Road, Lovemore Park. ART IN THE PARK

FREE PLAY AT ART MUSEUM

PARKRUNS IN PE

Take part in one of four parkruns in Port Elizabeth: PE Hobie Beach, Lady Slipper, Wells Estate and Sardinia Bay. The parkrun is a 5km fun run at 8am every Saturday, which is free and open to all but if you want a time please register for a barcode at www.parkrun.co.za. The Hobie run starts at the palm tree next to Shark Rock Pier; Sardinia Bay is at the Grass Roof in Heron Road; Lady Slipper is at Slipperfie­lds, and Wells Estate is at St George’s Strand. An exhibition, The Mother Tongue: The Influence of Traditiona­l Xhosa Fashion on Contempora­ry Design is on at the Nelson Mandela Metropolit­an Art Museum. Mother Tongue celebrates local fashion and features the museum’s collection of traditiona­l Southern Nguni beadwork and textiles, and selected works by textile designer Laduma gxokolo. CREATIVE BLOCK

The GFI Art Gallery is exhibiting items from the Spier Creative Block collection. It also is hosting Essence of India, a photograph­ic exhibition by Leon Hugo, until Monday February 25.
